A Deeper Lesson from the Gita
What Did Shri Krishna Say?
In the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 3, Verse 21, Shri Krishna says—
"If the great ones behave in a certain way, the common people follow suit. The world takes that as a precedent and follows it."
In other words, great people set an example with their behavior, and others follow it.
What Does This Mean in Our Lives?
Parents don't just teach their children through words; their behavior is also a lesson for the children.
Similarly, teachers, gurus, family elders, or anyone who influences society— their responsibility is not just to give advice. They need to set an example themselves.
We should practice what we preach.
If we want respect, we need to learn to give respect. If we want truth, we need to be truthful ourselves. If we talk about self-control, we need to show self-control in our behavior.
Behavior is Not Just About Talking
In the Sanatan tradition, behavior is important because knowledge only becomes effective when it is put into practice.
Before teaching others about spirituality, we need to live it ourselves.
Sometimes, our greatest lesson is not what we say, but how we behave.
Today's Lesson
Look at your own behavior before trying to change others.
It's possible that someone may not listen to your words, but they will definitely learn from your behavior.
The Author's Words
"People may remember what you say for a short time, but the lessons they learn from how you live your life will stay with them for a long time."
